The Arkansas Razorbacks have named KJ Jackson their starting quarterback for the 2026 college football season, announcing the news Sunday on social media. Jackson beat out Memphis transfer AJ Hill for the job.

Jackson is entering his third season with the Razorbacks and played in five games during the 2205 season, starting the regular season finale against the Missouri Tigers. He completed 61.1% of his passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns, running for 52 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pounder played in one game in 2024 as a true freshman, completing all four of his pass attempts for 59 yards. He is from Montgomery, Alabama, and signed with the Razorbacks as a four-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.

Jackson and Hill competed for the job throughout spring and fall practice. While Jackson is a returning player and has more playing experience, Hill followed Arkansas head coach Ryan Silverfield from Memphis. Hill played in two games as a true freshman last season, completing 19 of his 32 passes for 223 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.

Arkansas is set to open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 against the North Alabama Lions in Razorback Stadium. The game is set to start at 3:15 p.m. CT and will be on the SEC Network. They will travel to Salt Lake City to play the Utah Utes in Week 2.
