AUSTIN, Texas — Arkansas football‘s coaching search is nearing its conclusion, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

In the fourth quarter of the Razorbacks‘ (2-8, 0-6 SEC) game against No. 18 Texas on Saturday, Nov. 22, Thamel joined the ABC broadcast and said a resolution in the ongoing search is expected in a matter of “days.”

Thamel also reported four candidates were standing out in the search. Those candidates were Memphis’ Ryan Silverfield, South Florida’s Alex Golesh, North Texas’ Eric Morris and Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack.

Arkansas fired Sam Pittman in late September after a blowout loss to Notre Dame. Bobby Petrino was named the interim coach, but Petrino is winless in his second stint in charge of the Razorbacks. Arkansas trailed Texas 52-30 in the fourth quarter when Thamel joined the broadcast.

Arkansas wraps up the 2025 schedule next week with a home game against Missouri.
