Ryan Silverfield was officially hired by the Arkansas Razorbacks on Nov. 30, 2025, to be the 35th head coach in program history. Silverfield spent six seasons with the Memphis Tigers, never finishing below .500 and making four bowl games. The 45-year-old produced multiple 10-plus-win seasons for Memphis, going 10-3 in 2023 and 11-2 in 2024.
That 2024 season was the second-highest win total in Tigers history, behind only the 2019 team that finished 12-2. As for the Arkansas program that Silverfield is taking over, it just finished with its third two-win season in the last eight years. The Razorbacks started the season with two big wins over Alabama A&M (52-7) and Arkansas State (56-14) before losing two close road games to Ole Miss (41-35) and Memphis (32-31).
The wheels fell off on Sept. 27 when Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came to Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium and defeated Arkansas 56-13. The Fighting Irish amassed 641 yards of total offense, and the 42 points allowed by the Hogs at halftime were the most at home since 1973. The Razorbacks did not win another game for the remainder of the 2025 college football season, and after finishing last in SEC play as the conference’s only winless team, they decided to make changes to the football program.
University of Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek can’t directly change the win-loss outcome, but he can initiate change to the stadium name. Arkansas went to the social media platform X to announce the renaming of the stadium to “CommunityAmerica Razorback Stadium” beginning in fall 2027.
“New look for CommunityAmerica Razorback Stadium,” Arkansas football wrote on X. “In fall 2027 👀”
