Around the SEC Backs Down

Welcome to another edition of Around the SEC, where everything is made up and the points don’t matter. That’s right, the points are like the game clock at the end of the Michigan/Western Michigan game.

What DOES matter, though, is the SEC’s reaction to LSU’s flippant disregard for the rules and the sport’s sanity. Having flirted with the idea of rostering multiple former NFL (training camp) players, the SEC leaders included a vote to expel LSU from the conference in their lawsuit. This vote is slated to go down on Thursday, with 11 votes needed to expel the instituion.

With the threat of expulsion looming, LSU and Lane Kiffin have backed down on adding former pros to their roster, ending that part of the saga; however, SEC leaders are still furious about the lack of institutional control LSU has over their sports programs, namely the football team and Lane Kiffin. We will see if the vote still occurs on Thursday after the LSU announcement of not including the former pros.

Elsewhere in the SEC, an Ole Miss fan has gone viral after the camera panned to her just before halftime of the Rebs’ game against Louisville. She has shared her favorite DMs post-virality, and it’s as bad as you’d think. What are we doing here *face palm*.

Finally, SEC games begin this week, with Alabama headed to Kentucky. Will Stein can’t possibly win his first SEC game as a head coach against Alabama… can he? CAN HE?! In the words of one of my friends and Kentucky grads, “Go Key-ATS!”
