Adryan Cole is a 4-Star safety in the Class of 2027 out of Douglasville, GA who plays for the Douglas County Tigers and is a Top 300 player nationally and a Top 5-rated safety on Rivals.
This past weekend, Cole visited LSU for his first official visit, and I had the opportunity to speak with him following his trip to Baton Rouge to get some insight into his thoughts on the campus, food, Coach O, and, of course, football.
AP: Why do you love football?
AC: I’ve been loving the game for the longest. I just love to play. I don’t take the game for granted.
AP: Would you rather play offense or defense, if you had your choice?
AC: Defense, of course.
AP: Who was your favorite player coming up?
AC: Players like Cam Newton, Jarvis Landry. But Tyrann Mathieu was my favorite.
AP: You mentioned a couple of LSU greats. What did it mean to walk those same halls and be in those same locker rooms that a couple of LSU and Louisiana legends shared?
AC: It was just great being there, knowing that those were my main two. It was truly great.
AP: Let’s think big picture. If you had your wish to get drafted by any NFL team, who would it be?
AC: I don’t really have no selective team. It would just be a blessing to get drafted in general.
AP: Do you have a favorite NFL team?
AC: Not anymore. I used to like the Falcons, but after that Super Bowl they lost, nah!
AP: Well, if you choose to come to LSU, we will always have room for you in the Who Dat Nation. We actually know how to win Super Bowls.
AC: For sure.
AP: What were your first impressions of LSU and the campus?
AC: It was great. It was a vibe.
AP: What was the best thing you had to eat while you were out here?
AC: It was gumbo and boudin balls.
AP: How did your family take to the visit? Did they enjoy themselves as well?
AC: They all enjoyed themselves.
AP: Was LSU able to create a family atmosphere for you while you were here?
AC: Yeah, they had a real family-oriented vibe.
AP: What was it like meeting Coach Orgeron in person?
AC: I had talked with him before I came down there, but it was great meeting him in person.
AP: Was his personality everything you expected it to be?
AC: Yeah, he acts just like he would on wherever you see him at, IG or all of that.
AP: We have all seen the video of Coach O getting y’all hyped for the pregame walk. What was it like being in that tunnel with Coach O, with that energy, during that moment?
AC: That was great. He had us all fired up. We all were ready to go out and play. That’s how we all felt.
AP: What have the coaches sold you on regarding their plan and vision for you?
AC: They just want me to be an athlete back there and let me do me.
AP: What visits do you have left to take?
AC: Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss.
AP: Are you trying to stay within the SEC?
AC: It doesn’t really matter to me. That’s just how it turned out.
AP: I know you had a commitment date set for July 18th. Is that still set for you?
AC: Yeah.
AP: Was LSU able to move up with the impression they made on you?
AC: Yeah, for sure.
