Auburn head football coach Alex Golesh is adding another former Tiger to the coaching staff. Former Auburn wide receiver Jeris McIntyre will be joining the staff as director of football and alumni relations.

McIntyre spent the last two seasons at UCF as the director of high school relations for the Golden Knights. Before heading to Orlando, he was a high school football coach at Tampa Catholic High School. From 2015-17, he served as wide receivers coach, and in 2018, he became the head coach until he took the role with UCF. He was 45-25 as the head coach of the Crusaders over those six seasons.

He played at Auburn from 2000-03 under head coach Tommy Tuberville. During that time, he played with three different quarterbacks in Ben Leard, Daniel Cobb, and Jason Campbell. Over his four years on the plains, McIntyre caught 69 passes for 973 yards and four touchdowns. Today, those numbers would be good for one season, but under Tuberville, the Tigers were a run-heavy offense. His best season came in his final year of 2003. That season, he caught 41 passes for 621 yards and three touchdowns. McIntyre was part of the 2000 team that won the SEC West and appeared in the SEC Championship Game versus the Florida Gators.

After his college career, McIntyre was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He was on the roster for three seasons, but he never recorded any statistics during those seasons. He did spend some time in other professional leagues, though. In 2005, he played for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe, catching 21 passes for 355 yards and one touchdown. They would lose in the World Bowl Championship Game that season, but McIntyre was selected to the All-NFL Europe Team. In 2007, he split time with the Dallas Desperados (Arena Football League) and the Toronto Argonauts (CFL). His professional football career ended in 2009 with the Bergamo Lions in the Italian Football League.

He now joins Kodi Burns as a former Auburn Tiger now part of the coaching staff for new head coach Alex Golesh.
