Auburn football adds Georgia Southern, Troy as future nonconference foes

AUBURN — After facing an in-state opponent for the first time in 2025, Auburn football will do the same in 2031, as Troy announced Thursday, Dec. 11, it’d be coming to the Plains on Sept. 6 that year.

That was one of two additions to Auburn‘s upcoming nonconference slates, as Georgia Southern also announced Thursday it’d be coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2028.

Auburn is 2-0 all-time against the Eagles, beating them in both 1991 and 2017. The Trojans are the only Division I football team the Tigers haven’t faced from the state of Alabama. South Alabama played Auburn this past season, beating the Jaguars 31-15. It’s scheduled to host Jacksonville State next fall, on Sept. 26, but the Tigers and Gamecocks have already faced once in their histories.
