AUBURN — The number continues to rise for Auburn football's additions from the transfer portal, adding a pair of Group of 5 transfers in Troy running back Tae Meadows and Lousiana-Monroe quarterback Hunter Herring on Thursday, Jan. 22.
Meadows has signed with the Tigers, a source confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser. Herring reportedly signed, but he shared the news of his commitment on his personal Instagram account Thursday evening. He'll reportedly switch from quarterback to tight end.
With Meadows and Herring, Auburn's up to 36 additions from the transfer portal, which is tied for the sixth-most in FBS.
Meadows, a rising senior, had a breakout campaign with the Trojans in 2025, rushing for 695 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He joins Bryson Washington, Byrum Brown, Jeremiah Cobb and Nykahi Davenport as ball-carriers set to join Auburn who reached at least 500 yards and five touchdowns on the ground last year.
Herring did a little bit of everything for the Warhawks in three years with the program. He tallied 42 pass attempts, 49 carries and caught four passes — and a blocked punt.
