Auburn football's recruiting efforts may benefit from the recent firing of Sherrone Moore as Michigan's head coach.

Three-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter recently withdrew from his National Letter of Intent following the dismissal of Moore as the Wolverines' head coach last week, and is now favored to land on his feet in Auburn. A pair of Rivals' experts, Jeffrey Lee and Steve Wiltfong, recently logged a prediction for Auburn to land McWhorter, citing new Auburn head coach Alex Golesh's history of recruiting McWhorter during his days as USF's head coach.

McWhorter is a three-star lineman from Cass High School in Cartersville, Georgia, the same high school that produced freshman center Kail Ellis, who played in eight games this season at the position with two starts. According to 247Sports, McWhorter held offers from quality programs, including Oklahoma, Missouri, Duke, Clemson, and Texas A&M. McWhorter was once committed to Arkansas.

Auburn's 2026 signing class currently ranks No. 41 in the 247Sports rankings with a trio of four-stars and four offensive linemen.
