Auburn football lands its first pledge of the 2028 recruiting cycle

Auburn football has landed its first commitment from the 2028 recruiting cycle.

Three-star quarterback Sam Sollie from Gadsden, Alabama, announced his pledge to the Auburn Tigers on Saturday morning, choosing Auburn over several SEC rivals including Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi State. Alex Golesh's 2027 recruiting class is shaping up to be special, and landing Sollie is a great step to ensure that success is repeated in the 2028 cycle.

Landing Sollie is also an indication of how well Golesh has recruited his home base in just a short time on Auburn's campus. So far in the 2027 cycle, four of the top 11 recruits from the state of Alabama are committed to Auburn, and five players total from the state make up Auburn's 25-member class.

The 6-3, 180-pound signal-caller burst onto the scene as a 10th grader last season at Gadsden City High School, where he threw for over 1,300 yards and led the Titans to the second round of the AHSAA Class 6A playoffs. He passed for over 100 yards seven times last season, which included a 278-yard, three-touchdown performance against Jasper High School in the opening round of the AHSAA playoffs.

Sollie is the No. 40 quarterback from the 2028 class and the No. 20 player overall from Alabama ahead of his 11th-grade season, and has two more years to boost his stock as the starting quarterback of the Gadsden City Titans.
