Auburn football RB Jeremiah Cobb announces he'll return for 2026

AUBURN — Alex Golesh will have Auburn football‘s leading rusher in tow next season, as running back Jeremiah Cobb announced Friday, Jan. 9 that he’d be returning to the Plains for the 2026 season.

A former consensus four-star prospect and Montgomery native, Cobb committed to the program under former head coach Bryan Harsin and signed on after Harsin was fired. He played in every game his first two seasons but logged just 62 carries.

Hugh Freeze prefaced the 2025 season by saying Cobb was due for a breakout campaign, and after team captain Damari Alston left the program midseason, Cobb continued a performance that began when Alston was sidelined by injury and ended the year as Auburn‘s leading rusher.

Cobb’s 969-yard season saw five 100-yard games, including a career-high 153 yards in a win over Arkansas. Cobb also averaged a career-best 5.5 yards per carry and scored five rushing touchdowns as a junior.

    • 2024 (12 games): 142 rushing yards, 29 carries (4.9 YPC); 6 receptions, 45 receiving yards
