Auburn football signs Australian punter Max Bourke

Auburn football added just one player to its 2026 signing class on National Signing Day, but this player has the potential to be special in the future.

Max Bourke, a punter from Melbourne, Australia, signed with Auburn this week, bringing its 2026 signing total to 21 players. Auburn head coach Alex Golesh says he is excited to bring Bourke to the Plains and that he looks forward to watching Bourke develop under current Auburn punter and fellow Aussie, Hudson Kaak.

"We added a punter from Melbourne. I’m really excited about him," Golesh said Wednesday. "Obviously, we have one here (Hudson Kaak) that’s going into his senior year, so to have a guy here that can learn under him is certainly important. We don’t talk about it a whole lot, but it’s important for us to bring in and develop a big kid, huge leg, really neat, young guy that we’re really excited about."

Bourke is the second specialist to sign with Auburn's 2026 class, joining Travis Wakefield, a three-star long snapper from Nashville, Tennessee. There is no ranking information on Bourke, but Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover shares that Bourke is a three-sport athlete at Brunswick Secondary School in Victoria, Australia, and played a role in his team winning the Division 1 YJFL Championship in 2023.

Auburn football's 2026 haul ranks No. 22 in the 247Sports recruiting rankings and is No. 12 among SEC teams.
