AUBURN — Alex Golesh‘s first eight months as Auburn football‘s head coach will be imperative to the success of his first season at the helm, but his first month hasn’t done him many favors.
Before the former South Florida coach even gets his first opportunity to lead the Tigers into a game on the Plains, he’s being tasked with wading through a talented roster and carving out his group of guys for the 2026 campaign.
The returns to this point have been, understandably, disheartening. The Tigers were slated to have nearly 30 players in the transfer portal when it opened Jan. 2, and two-thirds of them were former blue-chip signees, helping comprise the 13th-most-talented roster in the nation last season.
While the likes of Cam Coleman and Deuce Knight will be looking at their options elsewhere, it’ll be up to Golesh and his newly-hired staff to do the hard part: build a roster that can compete in the SEC while pushing to retain some of that outgoing talent.
As the offseason continues, stay tuned here for a full rundown of the latest changes on Auburn‘s roster.
Live updates on Auburn football’s roster: Who’s in, out on the Plains?

Two Auburn football transfer targets choose SEC squads
Jan. 12 (3:54 p.m.): NC State wide receiver transfer Noah Rogers and Ohio State offensive line transfer Tegra Tshabola — both of whom visited Auburn — committed to Alabama and Kentucky, respectively, on Monday.
Rogers was a former five-star prospect and high school teammate of Byrum Brown, and Tshabola was the Buckeyes‘ starting right guard the past two seasons.
Auburn football adds another South Florida transfer in OL Cole Skinner
Jan. 12 (2 p.m.): Auburn’s third transfer addition of the day is another Tampa transplant, as offensive lineman Cole Skinner has signed with the Tigers, a source confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser.
With Skinner in the fold, Auburn is up to 23 transfer additions. Skinner is the 12th player to follow Golesh from Tampa to the Plains, and he’s the program’s third addition on the offensive line, joining James Madison transfer Joseph Simmons and Michigan State transfer Stanton Ramil.

Oregon State QB transfer Tristan Ti’a signs with Auburn football
Jan. 11 (11:40 p.m.): Ti’a has signed with Auburn, a source tells the Montgomery Advertiser, becoming the 22nd addition to the Tigers’ transfer class.
A former four-star prospect, Ti’a spent one season in Corvallis before entering the portal this offseason. He saw time in three games for the Beavers last fall, including a starting in the season finale against Washington State. He completed 69.8% of his passes for 385 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Jan. 11 (12:22 p.m.): Auburn’s longtime standout pass-catcher will be on the receiving end of Arch Manning’s throws next season, announcing his comment to Texas on Sunday.
Deuce Knight departs Auburn football for Ole Miss
Jan. 11 (9:56 a.m.): Deuce Knight will face his former team in 2026, as the former Auburn quarterback announced Sunday he was transferring to Ole Miss.
Knight was among the headliners of Auburn’s 30-plus players to enter the transfer portal this offseason, and he’s among six players set to square off with the Tigers in 2026, including Malik Blocton and Eric Singleton Jr., among others.
Baylor RB transfer Bryson Washington commits to Auburn football
Jan. 10 (8:10 p.m.): Washington, Baylor‘s leading rusher the past two seasons, committed to Auburn on Saturday, a sourced confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser.
That’d make Washington the 21st transfer addition in Auburn’s class. He’s just the second consensus top-100 player in Auburn’s class, and both 247Sports and On3 list him as a top-10 running back.

What’s the latest with transfer portal calendar? Here’s what to know
After having two portal windows last offseason, including a 30-day span for the majority of December, the NCAA consolidated chances for football players to transfer this year, eliminating a spring transfer window and moving the lone period to a two-week span — from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16 — following the College Football Playoff.
Players who wish to enter the portal must do so in that window, but they’re not required to enroll at a new school before the entry deadline.
