Auburn football transfer portal tracker | Latest news, developments

AUBURN — Alex Golesh‘s first eight months as Auburn football‘s head coach will be imperative to the success of his first season at the helm, but his first month hasn’t done him many favors.

Before the former South Florida head coach even gets his first opportunity to lead the Tigers into a game on the Plains, he’s being tasked with wading through one of the more talented rosters in the sport and carving out his group of guys for the 2026 campaign.

The returns to this point have been, understandably, disheartening. The Tigers were slated to have nearly 30 players in the transfer portal when it opened Friday, Jan. 2, and two-thirds of them were former blue-chip signees, helping comprise the 13th-most-talented roster in the nation last season.

While the likes of Cam Coleman and Deuce Knight will be looking at their options elsewhere, it’ll be up to Golesh and his newly hired staff to do the hard part: build a roster that can compete in the SEC while pushing to retain some of that outgoing talent.

As the offseason continues, stay tuned here for a full rundown of the latest changes on Auburn‘s roster.

Live updates on Auburn football’s roster: Who’s in, out on the Plains?

Auburn football up to 8 South Florida transfers with safety Fred Gaskin

Jan. 5 (4:27 p.m.): Gaskin announced his move to the Plains on Monday, becoming the ninth player to transfer to Auburn this offseason, and the eighth from South Florida.

In two seasons with the Bulls, Gaskin totaled 65 tackles, 3 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, 3 tackles for loss, and 2 fumble recoveries. His sophomore season saw the bulk of his production, with 53 tackles, two interceptions and all of his career tackles for loss and sacks.

Jeremiah Koger latest South Florida pass-catcher to join Auburn football

Jan. 5 (3:13 p.m.): Koger, South Florida’s second-leading receiver in 2025, announced his commitment to Auburn on Monday, becoming the eighth transfer addition for the program and seventh from Golesh’s former employer.

Koger, a true freshman last season, caught 38 passes for 597 yards and eight touchdowns. He’s considered a consensus top-200 transfer prospect.

Jan. 5 (10:10 a.m.): South Florida tight end Jonathan Echols and running back Nykahi Davenport signed with Auburn on Monday, bringing the program’s transfer total to six additions, five of which played for Golesh last season.

Echols spent two seasons at South Florida, flipping his commitment from Tennessee to the Bulls as a four-star prospect, choosing to follow Golesh from Knoxville to Tampa. As a freshman, he played in just two games and caught one pass, albeit, for a 56-yard touchdown. In 10 games this past season, Echols caught nine passes for 109 yards and three touchdowns.

A former three-star recruit, Davenport played in 11 games as a true freshman at South Florida, and he was the Bulls’ second-leading rusher behind quarterback Byrum Brown. He posted 612 rushing yards and averaged 6.2 yards per carry. He also scored seven touchdowns.

LSU offensive lineman Ory Williams expected to visit Auburn football

Jan. 5 (10:00 a.m.): A former three-star prospect, Williams is expected to arrive at Auburn on Monday, according to multiple reports. He played in just five games in two seasons at LSU.

What’s the latest with transfer portal calendar? Here’s what to know

After having two portal windows last offseason, including a 30-day span for the majority of December, the NCAA consolidated chances for football players to transfer this year, eliminating a spring transfer window and moving the lone period to a two-week span — from Jan. 2 to Jan. 16 — following the College Football Playoff.

Players who wish to enter the portal must do so in that window, but they’re not required to enroll at a new school before the entry deadline.
