Auburn football added a quarterback to its 2027 recruiting class over the weekend when Gary Chatman Jr announced his pledge to the Tigers, doing so a few days after decommitting from Wake Forest.

Chatman took time to speak with Chad Simmons of Rivals about his recent decision to flip from Wake Forest to Auburn. During the interview, he put Auburn fans’ minds at ease by declaring that his recruitment is officially closed.

“With this commitment, I’m shutting it down. I am not visiting anywhere else… I am all Auburn,” Chatman said in a recent interview with Rivals.

Auburn joined the race for Chatman’s recruitment just a few weeks ago, and quickly climbed to the top of his leaderboard. Chatman took his first campus visit on April 16 and received an official offer from Auburn one week later on April 22. He made another trip to the Plains on May 1 and left knowing that Auburn was the place for him. He tells Simmons that the development track record of offensive coordinator Joel Gordon has impressed him and that he can see himself playing college football for the newly named head coach, Alex Golesh.

Chatman is the sixth player to commit to Auburn’s 2027 class, and the fifth to pledge to Auburn since April 18. The Brookwood High School star is the No. 57 quarterback from the class and is the No. 122 player from Georgia.
