Pro Football Focus College has graded the returning SEC quarterbacks for the 2026-27 football season and gave Auburn QB Byrum Brown the highest grade of the crop.

The hype continues to build for senior South Florida transfer QB Byrum Brown ahead of the upcoming season for the Tigers. Brown received a 91.5, which is the highest grade of any returning SEC quarterback, from PFF College. Eight other quarterbacks on the list, in order of their ranking, are Trinidad Chambliss (87.8), Arch Manning (87.3), Kamario Taylor (84.7), Landen Clark (84.2), Gunner Stockton (81.1), Sam Leavitt (76.4), and LaNorris Sellers (73.4).

It will be Brown's first year donning the orange and blue, as he will be alongside his USF and now Auburn head coach, Alex Golesh. Brown is coming off a stellar year through the air and the ground, where he threw for 3,158 yards and rushed for 1,008 yards.

His playmaking ability shone bright in 2025 and was responsible for 42 touchdowns for USF, 28 passing and 14 rushing. Though it will be his first year in the SEC, he has had experience against SEC defenses in three matchups during his USF tenure.

Now Brown and the offense look to be taking the right direction from years prior, of an offense that struggled. Many of his supporting cast on offense from USF made the jump from Tampa, Florida, to the Plains. So expected a big year out of the senior closing out his collegiate chapter of football.
