Another week of college football, another week of fans expressing their displeasure toward Pat McAfee’s performance on College GameDay.
Some fans want McAfee to be replaced on GameDay after FOX let go of Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy from its Big Noon Kickoff show
Calls Mount for Pat McAfee to be Replaced on College GameDay
McAfee has been getting plenty of hate for his coverage of college football. After FOX moved to get rid of Portnoy, ESPN is being begged to remove him from its coverage.
“ESPN. I’m begging you. Please get Pat McAfee off your television. Forever. His face, let alone his voice, is like fingernails on a blackboard. He brings nothing! I just can’t watch him,” said writer Joel Wagler.
“Pat McAfee next,” added one fan.
McAfee is a huge part of ESPN’s talent and is on plenty of its coverage. He has begun to find himself on ESPN’s NFL coverage this year, too. Fans are getting tired of his antics.

He’s become a staple of College GameDay over the last few years alongside Kirk Herbstreit, legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Rece Davis, and Desmond Howard.
“You’re all laughing but this is the beginning of the end of Pat McAfee. Like a star beginning to burn helium instead of hydrogen, the light of Pat will eventually fade,” said George Basile, a Public Affairs worker in Delaware County.
FOX recently parted ways with Portnoy and Barstool Sports on Big Noon Kickoff, though no single reason for the decision has been publicly established.
ESPN has the chance to do the same, but McAfee was reportedly recently handed a hefty extension and will likely not be removed from GameDay.
“Now get McAfee off College Gameday lol,” said one fan.
“Now do McAfee. Your move College GameDay. Make CFB Saturdays great again,” added another fan.
It’s hard to imagine ESPN deciding to give McAfee the same fate Portnoy experienced. But every week that McAfee headlines College GameDay, he will hear it from the college football faithful, and ESPN will continue to hear the noise surrounding its star until he changes something or is replaced.
