Belton-Honea Path football star WR Tajeh Watson transferring to Westside

Belton-Honea Path wide receiver Tajeh Watson is transferring to Westside high school football for his senior season, according to media reports. Watson confirmed the transfer after reposting it on his X account on Jan. 5. 

Watson made 103 catches in the past two seasons for 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. He had 58 receptions for 1,101 yards and 11 TDs in 2025 to help Belton-Honea Path go 14-1 and reach the Class 3A state championship for a second straight year. 

Belton-Honea Path coach Russell Blackston stepped down after the Bears lost the Class 3A state title game to Oceanside. He was there for 15 seasons.

Watson (5-11, 170 pounds) also played defensive back and averaged 28.9 yards on 11 punt returns, including two touchdowns. He posted on social media Dec. 25 that he had narrowed his college choices to Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Duke, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. 

Westside quarterback Bear Woods in 2025 as a freshman passed for 2,318 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Rams will lose their top receiver, Jacob Lewis, to graduation. Lewis had 46 catches for 846 yards and 13 touchdowns. 

Freshman wide receiver Jae White had 41 catches for 672 yards and five touchdowns.
