ESPN‘s College GameDay is broadcasting from Provo, Utah, in advance of a top-10 matchup between the 5-0 Cougars and No. 2 Notre Dame. It’s just the second time the college football crew has traveled to Provo. The show’s previous visit to the campus was Oct. 24, 2009. That was so long ago that Pat McAfee was a rookie with the Indianapolis Colts and Nick Saban hadn’t even won his first national championship at Alabama.
The Notre Dame hate flowed freely on Saturday. One sign simply recounted the score of Notre Dame’s 2024 loss to Northern Illinois. The Fighting Irish had come into that matchup ranked No. 5 in the nation but lost to a Huskies team that would end up 8-5 on the season.

The official GameDay account first posted and then deleted a poster showing a Notre Dame player with his hand on the sign that famously hangs in the stairwell from the team’s locker room. It read, “Play like a champion today… Unless you don’t make the playoff then quit.” It’s a funny nod to the Irish opting out of bowl season after not making the College Football Playoff last year, but GameDay apparently felt that was a bit too much.
