Big 12 Championship Race Predictions, Final Standings Call, Top Games

It might seem like Texas Tech is a mortal lock to end up in the Big 12 Championship, but BYU and Cincinnati still only have one loss and are still in the thick of things.

Arizona State, Houston, and Utah are still alive with just two losses, and there are more than enough chances for upsets to screw everything up.

Going into Week 12, here’s our call for how all of this will play out with predictions of every remaining game, a call on the final standings, and what the three most important games are.

If things go the way we think they will, there could and should be four teams still in the mix to face Texas Tech. How do Arizona State, BYU, Cincinnati, and Utah all stack up if they really do finish 7-2 in the Big 12?

Here we go (we think we have this right) …

Arizona State: The loss to Utah is a killer. In the end, BYU beat Utah, Utah beat ASU is how this might play out.

BYU: The predicted loss to Cincinnati is the concern, but the win over Utah could be everything.

Cincinnati: The loss to Utah balances out a projected win over BYU, and the other loss should come against TCU.

Utah: It doesn’t get a shot against any of the projected 7-2 teams the rest of the way. It’ll all whittle down to this … Utah lost to BYU. So it should be BYU, but one wrong call among the final predictions changes everything.

1. BYU at Cincinnati, Nov. 15
Realistically, this is it. If BYU builds the Bearcats, it’ll get to the Big 12 Championship. However …

2. Cincinnati at TCU, Nov. 29
If Cincinnati beats BYU, after taking care of Arizona this week, it’ll have the Big 12 title shot there for the taking when it goes to Fort Worth.

3. Houston at Baylor, Nov. 29
You want to throw the tie-breaker scenario into a tailspin? If Houston beats TCU and then wins at Baylor, look out – it didn’t and won’t play any of the other projected 7-2 teams.
