There has been plenty of noise coming out of South Bend for the way that Notre Dame football’s season ended with drama regarding the College Football Playoff, opting out of a bowl and the ACC effort to prop Miami over the Irish.

Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua has been outspoken for his team, and rightfully so. The Irish have an argument that they should have been in the playoff, but Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark doesn’t think that was the case.

On Tuesday night at the Sport Business Journal’s Intercollegiate Athletics Forum, he said he “didn’t like how Notre Dame reacted,” and that Bevacqua’s “behavior has been egregious.” Yormark cited the ACC saving the Irish during 2020, and would have said that to Bevacqua’s face as well.

It’s an interesting take on the situation, but he’s missing part of the problem, Alabama. It wasn’t just Miami pushing the Irish out of the 12-team field, the Crimson Tide had three-loss and was erratic for much of the season.

I think we’d all agree that Bevacqua was looking out for Notre Dame’s best interest, and if Yormark was in his situation, he’d be doing the exact same thing.
