Big 12 football passing leaders after a few elite Week 5 performances

Once again, the Big 12 has a new passing leader. This week, Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita threw for 284 yards and two touchdowns in the Wildcats' 34-7 win over Cincinnati Saturday night. It was his third straight game with at least 280 passing yards; he has only one game with fewer than 275 passing yards.

Baylor's DJ Lagway and Arizona State's Cutter Boley also had a good battle, though it didn't show in the score as the Bears won 55-19. Both Lagway and Boley threw for over 300 yards, but Lagway had four passing touchdowns while Boley had only one.

Despite being on a bye week, Oklahoma State's Drew Mestemaker and Kansas State's Avery Johnson are in the top 10 in both categories. Meanwhile, Colorado's Julian Lewis is tied for the tenth-most passing touchdowns despite not playing in the past six quarters for the Buffaloes after being benched at halftime in their Week 4 loss to Baylor.

Here are the top 10 quarterbacks in the Big 12 in passing yards after Week 5:
