Clemson football has landed its first commitment in the 2026 transfer portal class.

Former Penn State Nittany Lions cornerback Elliot Washington announced his commitment to coach Dabo Swinney’s Tigers on Monday, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

A 5-foot-11, 199-pound defensive back, Washington spent the past three seasons at Penn State. As a junior this past season, he played in 12 games and had 18 tackles (13 solo), one interception, and three pass breakups.

In three seasons with the Nittany Lions, Washington totaled 53 tackles (37 solo). He recorded two interceptions and nine pass breakups across 27 games. He registered six pass breakups in 2024 when Penn State reached the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff.

Washington will reunite with Clemson defensive coordinator Tom Allen, who held the same position at Penn State in 2024. He was ranked a four-star recruit out of Venice, Florida, by both 247Sports and On3 in the class of 2023. 247Sports ranked Washington the 175th best overall prospect in the 2023 class.

The Tigers recently lost safety Ricardo Jones to the transfer portal, as well as safety Khalil Barnes, who announced a commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday. Defensive backs Michael Mankaka, Rob Billings, and Shelton Lewis also entered the portal.
