The Big Ten has taken the mantle as the premier conference in all of college sports, and it isn't much of a debate.

It starts with the two main sports in college athletics, and it extends throughout most of the rest of them. Looking at just the College Football Playoffs and the College Basketball tournament, it's been all Big Ten.

In the last six games between the two conferences, the Big Ten is 6-0.

The most recent bout was a blowout between the Team Up North and the Tennessee Volunteers, where the Wolverines flirted with a 40-point lead at times in the second half of the game.

The other contests were a total drubbing of the Alabama Crimson Tide at the hands of the Indiana Hoosiers as the Hoosiers rolled to a National Championship.

Then, in the basketball tournament, it has been an Iowa upset win over Florida, a Nebraska shocker over Vanderbilt, a Purdue buzzer beater over Texas, and a Michigan victory over Alabama before taking down Tennessee.

Beyond that, the last three football National Champions have come from the Big Ten, and the conference has a very real chance to win the basketball tournament for the first time in over 20 years.

It has been pure domination over the SEC and the Buckeyes, while maybe not recently, they have had their hand in all of the winning. In their last three football games against SEC opponents, they are 3-0 with two playoff wins to their record. Those two were memorable with wins over Tennessee and Texas in the postseason.

On the hardwood, it hasn't been as easy for Ohio State, which is 3-4 against the SEC in its last seven contests. There are a couple of huge wins in that list with wins over Kentucky and a No. 17 Alabama team in 2023.

The Buckeyes have led the way in becoming the standard on the gridiron. Not only are they crushing their SEC opponents, but they have even gotten to the point of taking their best players in the transfer portal. See Caleb Downs and Julian Sayin.

They are the micro example of the macro trend. The Big Ten has officially taken over the SEC as the premier athletic conference in the country, and they are showing no signs of looking back any time soon.
