Bill Belichick Looking To Add To UNC's Roster At 11th Hour

Bill Belichick is open to making some additions to the UNC football roster at the eleventh hour.

Some former college football players from the class of 2022 are looking into getting a fifth year of eligibility from the court systems. Some college football programs are looking into these players, while others are not.

North Carolina is one of the programs looking into these players.

UNC head coach Bill Belichick announced on Friday that he’s exploring some late additions to the Tar Heels roster.

“We’ve looked at a number of them,” Belichick said Friday. “Each case is a little bit different. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t. I don’t think there’s anything we’re counting on, but we’re always open to anything that will help the team.”

UNC is coming off a disappointing season, as the Tar Heels missed a bowl game and had a losing record.

But the Tar Heels continue to face criticism for how they’ve handled things.

UNC faces scrutiny for their football program standards

The Ringer’s Todd McShay put UNC on blast.

“That front office for the Oklahoma Sooners is the model that everyone’s chasing right now,” he said on The Brandon Walker College Football Show.

“Everything that Mike Lombardi and Bill Belichick pitched about being the 33rd NFL team, that’s what’s actually going on at Oklahoma.”

UNC is looking to make a big jump this fall, and it sounds like Belichick is open to adding some players at the last minute to make that happen.

For now, though, the Tar Heels are simply in an exploratory stage.
