Blake Purchase took the stand during fall camp as he continues to look more and more like a player who could make a huge impact right away for the Rebels heading into the 2026 season.

Rebels fans should be excited, as Purchase has been raved about throughout fall camp. The Oregon transfer not only adds depth to an already talented defensive line, but also has the potential to earn a starting role heading into the 2026 season.

Ole Miss enters 2026 ranked No. 9 in the AP Poll, as the Rebels have been one of the most talked-about teams heading into the season. Ole Miss boasts arguably the best quarterback and running back duo in college football, as Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy will likely be in the Heisman Trophy conversation throughout the season. It could be another great season for the Rebels.

Blake Purchase Brings Valuable Depth to Ole Miss Defensive Line

Kam Franklin, Will Echoles and Suntarine Perkins will be the big names on the defensive line heading into the season, as the Rebels will boast one of the best defensive lines not only in the SEC, but in all of college football.

Ole Miss then adds Blake Purchase from Oregon. The junior defensive end recorded two sacks and 13 solo tackles during Oregon's 2025 season, which included a College Football Playoff appearance.

The Rebels' edge rusher said his biggest growth from spring to fall camp has been his understanding of the defensive playbook. "I feel like I really immerse myself in the playbook. It's like being able to have spring under my belt and really feel comfortable on what I'm doing every play," Purchase said.

Ole Miss will need Purchase to play an impactful role in 2026 as the Rebels look to make back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances.

Purchase Gets Praised by Teammates

William Echoles believes Blake Purchase can lead the SEC in sacks going into 2026 which is very high praise from one of the best defensive lineman in college football.

Purchase believes his biggest strength as a pass rusher is his ability to win off the edge with his speed.

"Just be able to get off the edge, speed off the ball and just have a lot of different moves I could use at the top of the rush," Purchase said.

Expect the Rebels' defensive line to be one of the top units in the SEC in 2026, as Pete Golding did a great job not only retaining talent but also adding key players like Purchase, which will only help Ole Miss as they head into a highly anticipated season.
