Blake Shapen injury update: Mississippi State football QB exits game vs Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, AR — Mississippi State football starting quarterback Blake Shapen exited the Week 10 game at Arkansas with an injury and has not returned.

Freshman Kamario Taylor replaced him.

The Bulldogs (4-4, 0-4) were trailing the Razorbacks (2-6, 0-4) by six early in the third quarter on Nov. 1 when Shapen sustained the injury.

Four plays later, Taylor threw a 45-yard touchdown to Anthony Evans III for a 14-13 lead at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Shapen’s injury occurred on the first play of the second half when he was on the receiving end of a late hit. It drew a roughing the passer penalty on Arkansas defensive lineman Quincy Rhoades Jr.

Shapen lined up in formation for the next snap, but play was stopped and he was taken out of the game.
