Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers had a Taser pointed toward her face while trying to intervene during teammate Arike Ogunbowale’s arrest earlier this year, newly released police bodycam footage shows. Bueckers, who has previously spoken about Black women in the WNBA, was among several players present during the confrontation. Ogunbowale, a four-time All-Star who has previously made headlines with the Wings, was taken into custody during the March incident.
The footage, published by People, shows police attempting to arrest Ogunbowale outside Miami nightclub E11EVEN in the early hours of March 5. Bueckers had an arm around her teammate as officers moved in.
Bueckers repeatedly told an officer, “We got her,” as she remained beside Ogunbowale. The officer ordered her to let go before raising a Taser toward Bueckers. Other WNBA players, including Jackie Young and DiJonai Carrington, were also present during the confrontation.
The incident happened hours after Ogunbowale and Mist BC won the 2026 Unrivaled championship. Police arrested Ogunbowale after a nightclub security employee accused her of punching him in the face during an altercation. She was charged with misdemeanor battery and later released on bond.
The case ultimately did not proceed to trial. Prosecutors withdrew the battery charge in May, and Ogunbowale’s attorney said at the time that the State Attorney’s Office had elected not to move forward with the case.
The newly released footage provides a closer look at how tense the arrest became, with officers drawing Tasers as Bueckers and others gathered around Ogunbowale before eventually stepping away and allowing police to place her in handcuffs.
