Spring practice sessions may be over, but that does not mean that things have gotten any less busy for the Ohio State coaching staff. Just last weekend, Ohio State watched 11 former Buckeyes get selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. The successful weekend proved once again that Ohio State is one of the best programs in the country at developing talent.
Ohio State’s successful draft night was noticed at the national level, as no other school had as many former players selected in the draft as Ohio State. The success was also felt locally, and thankfully for Ohio State, the momentum carried over to Monday.
The Buckeyes added the newest member of their 2027 recruiting class Monday when 2027 four-star interior offensive lineman Davis Seaman (Columbus, OH / Bishop Waterson) announced his commitment to Ohio State.
The Columbus local is the No. 21 IOL in the 247Sports Composite, and he is the No. 404 national recruit. He is also the No. 15 recruit out of Ohio. The Buckeyes were always viewed as the favorites in his recruitment, but he did not come without competition as he chose Ohio State over the likes of Auburn, Penn State, and Tennessee.
Ryan Day has long prioritized keeping the best recruits from Ohio in Ohio, and this holds true even more now in the era of NIL and the transfer portal. Getting kids to commit to Ohio State because they want to play there is crucial to roster building, and Seaman is a perfect example of this. He is now one of four members of Ohio State’s 2027 class from Ohio, and the class sits at a total of 11 commits.
Seaman is joining the biggest group haul in the Buckeyes’ 2027 cycle so far. He may be the first IOL commit for the Buckeyes, but he is the fifth offensive lineman in the class, joining the likes of four-stars Kellen Wymer and Jimmy Kalis and three-stars Mason Wilt and Brody McNeel. Offensive line has obviously been a priority in the class, and Tyler Bowen and the Buckeyes have done a great job early in the class building an impressive haul, and they will likely continue to add to this group as well.
Seaman also brings a winning mindset with him, something the Ohio State coaching staff looks for in a recruit from a smaller division. The Ohioan won two division three state championships early in his high school football career and has another chance to add to this impressive trophy case.
Quick Hits:
As was mentioned earlier, Ohio State already holds 11 commitments in its 2027 recruiting cycle. And while the Buckeyes will certainly continue to look to add to this class, the coaching staff is also shifting more focus to the 2028 class. Building relationships with recruits early in the recruiting cycle is a major tool for the Buckeyes when it comes to recruiting. This spring, Ohio State hosted numerous recruits on campus from both this cycle and future cycles, and they continue to identify recruits in future classes they believe have what it takes to be a Buckeye. The Buckeyes dished out multiple scholarship offers in the 2028 class recently, and below are just some recruits to receive the coveted Ohio State offer:
4-star CB Jordan Hicks

ATH Sean Torbert
