Xaverian Brothers (Mass.) quarterback Will Wood has flipped his commitment from Penn State to Boston College, his agent Jeffrey Weiner tells Rivals.

The Rivals Industry Rankings ranks Wood as the nation’s No. 30 quarterback. He also strongly considered Wake Forest, North Carolina and Stanford early in his process.

“I loved Penn State and have so much respect and appreciation for Coach Campbell, Coach Waters, the whole staff, and the great fanbase. I know they’re going to get things turned around. But for me, it became clear over time that Boston College was the place where I truly saw myself playing football and going to school,” Wood said. “The opportunity to play for a coach like Coach O’Brien and be only 20 minutes from home is what ultimately made this the right decision for me.”

Wood has always spoken highly of Boston College and is now excited to be in the fold and looking forward to playing for head Coach Bill O’Brien and his staff.

“I am fired up to get to work with Coach O’Brien and Coach Dibiaso and the rest of the offensive staff. Coach O’Brien’s resume speaks for itself, especially his work with Quarterbacks at the highest level. I love what he’s done with the Patriots, Penn State, the Texans, Alabama, and what he’s building here at BC, and I just want to be a part of that full turnaround. These guys are obsessed with football and I have full believe that we’re going to do special things these next few years.”

Boston College now has 29 commits in the 2027 class. Wood also made a statement on X.

“I want to thank Coach Campbell, Coach Waters, and Penn State for their unwavering support and belief in me. I have zero doubt that they are going to turn this thing around and deserve the fanbase’s patience.

For me personally, I just believe it’s in my best interest to stay home and play for Coach Bill O’Brien and the Boston College Eagles.”
