Former Bowling Green and Florida tight end Arlis Boardingham has signed with Auburn out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Boardingham will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after missing the entire 2025 season with injuries.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound Boardingham appeared in 24 total games during three seasons (2022-24) at Florida, including four starts, during which he hauled in 44 receptions for 417 yards and six touchdowns with the Gators. His best season came in 2023 as the redshirt freshman Boardingham caught 26 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns — half of which came during a career-high seven-catch, 99-yard and two-touchdown game against Vanderbilt.

Boardingham signed with Florida as a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle out of Birmingham (Van Nuys, Calif.) High, where he was the No. 19-ranked athlete in the class, the No. 40 player out of California and No. 540 overall. That was according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting media companies.

Boardingham is Auburn’s second tight end transfer addition in the past two days. It came after Thursday’s commitment of former Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Hunter Herring, who will contribute as an athlete/tight end with the Tigers.

Former ULM QB Hunter Herring commits to Auburn as TE

Former Louisiana-Monroe quarterback Hunter Herring also committed to play for Alex Golesh and the Auburn Tigers on Thursday. However, a position change will take place once Herring gets to The Plains as he makes a switch over to the tight ends room for the Tigers.

Herring played in 10 games last season for ULM, seeing time in multiple roles. That included completing 5-of-10 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown and two interceptions. He also drew 20 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns rushing, as well as four receptions for 17 yards at receiver.

Versatility is something coaches dream about. Herring certainly provided that for ULM, but once arriving in Auburn, his position will be a little more defined.

Herring played high school football at Ouachita Christian School (Monroe, La.), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,536 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
