The Alabama football team enters the 2026 season with high expectations. Alabama safety Bray Hubbard says his team is chasing something truly magical this year.
“We’re chasing perfection. That’s all we chase is perfection,” Hubbard said, per team reporter Nick Kelly.
During the 2025 season, Hubbard played an important role in the Alabama secondary. He posted 74 total tackles for the team.

Alabama is hoping to reach the College Football Playoff once again. During the 2025 season, the Crimson Tide made the CFP. Alabama didn’t reach the national championship game though, after losing to Indiana.
Alabama fans expect the Crimson Tide to compete for national championships nearly every year. That is what happened when Nick Saban was leading the team.
The Crimson Tide are now led by Kalen DeBoer. DeBoer is entering his third season with the program. Some sports analysts including Stephen A. Smith aren’t fans of DeBoer. Smith has even called for Alabama to fire the coach.
DeBoer is trying to block out that outside noise. He wants to focus on improving his team.
“Just other improvement areas, I think we really look at it, we want to be able to run the football better. I think that will help the overall team, overall when it comes to protecting your quarterback. Makes play calling easier. So that’s something we’ve addressed and stressed within our team,” DeBoer said at SEC Media Days this year, per the SEC.
DeBoer’s goal is to have the team back in the national championship game.
“We got to address our weaknesses. Got to make be we continue to keep our strengths in order in who we are, understanding our identity, and continue to learn from those things that have happened to us both good and bad. Be better, you know, and focus on what we can control, and that’s the in next play, next moment, the next game, whatever is in front of us,” the coach added.
Alabama kicks off their 2026 season with a game against East Carolina Saturday.
