Notre Dame football is always keeping a tab on its rivals, and on Wednesday a massive bombshell came out of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Wolverines fired head coach Sherrone Moore according to multiple ESPN reporters, as Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said it was due to him engaging “in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” as CBS Sports Brandon Marcello shared on social media.
Moore took over the program mired in a cheating scandal after Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL, having served a 2-game suspension earlier this year along with another game that was set to come next fall. That clearly won’t happen, as the has been dismissed of his duties.
As far as Notre Dame is concerned, there are more than a few recruiting targets that both teams have in common, and you have to believe that the Irish will now have a bit of advantage with program stability.
The two teams are set to face-off against each other in 2033 and 2034, but it was always clear that both programs could look drastically different when the rivalry returns to the field.
