The NCAA transfer portal will be open Jan. 2 through Jan. 16, 2026.
Cincinnati redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby announced Monday he will enter the transfer portal. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound signal-caller appeared in 35 games, including 31 starts, at Cincinnati and Indiana from 2022-25.
Sorsby completed 594-of-968 passing attempts for 7,208 yards, 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions, while totaling 1,295 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 320 attempts for the Bearcats and Hoosiers.
Before committing to Indiana on Jan. 23, 2022, he was offered a scholarship by Fordham on Jan. 17, 2022. Kevin Decker was entering his final season as Fordham’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2022 when he offered the eventual Indiana and Cincinnati quarterback.
While with the Rams, Decker installed Josh Heupel’s veer-and-shoot offense. He installed Heupel’s offense due to downtime from the coronavirus pandemic and not playing games in 2020. The Rams played three games during an abbreviated spring 2021 season and a traditional campaign in the fall.
The coronavirus pandemic allowed time for Decker to implement a new scheme. David Weeks was brought into Fordham’s program as an offensive quality control coach in 2020 under Decker. He was elevated to tight ends coach in 2021.
Weeks went to Fordham after serving as a student assistant quarterbacks coach from 2018-19 at UCF under Heupel. 2025 was his second season as Old Dominion’s tight ends coach under Decker after reuniting with Heupel at Tennessee in 2023 as an offensive analyst.
2025 marked Decker’s third season as Old Dominion’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Old Dominion quarterback Colton Joseph also announced his intentions to transfer following the 2025 regular season on Dec. 7.
Kody Cook also completed his second season as Old Dominion’s wide receivers coach. He went to the Monarchs from Tennessee after being the Vols’ assistant wide receivers coach from 2022-23 under Heupel.
Sorsby received scholarship offers from Abilene Christian, Western Carolina, Texas A&M Commerce, Lamar, Delaware, Fordham, Army, Navy and Indiana during his high school recruitment. He is from Lake Dallas High School in Corinth, Texas.
