The conversation with Texas Tech and Brendan Sorsby has taken a new turn.

The disgraced now-former Red Raiders quarterback, who admitted to having a gambling addiction after placing 9,000 bets to the tune of $90,000, is leaving for the NFL. But his agent took a massive parting shot on the way out the door.

Sorsby’s agent, Ron Slavin, doesn't blame Texas Tech for letting him go and also believes they shouldn't be facing backlash for supporting his journey. However, Cincinnati is another story.

“If anybody should be questioned or (caught) heat, it should be Cincinnati,” Slavin told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “Because they knew for two years and never said anything or didn’t do anything about it. That’s the part of the story that gets lost.”

The alleged version of Cincinnati having prior knowledge of Sorsby's actions is a new development in the saga. A judge’s ruling had Sorsby eligible before he was ultimately met with resistance by the Big 12 Conference who filed a lawsuit of their own. He decided to leave college for the NFL.

Slavin set the record straight on Texas Tech. “The people at Tech have been great, very supportive,” he said. “Joey McGuire, I think, is one of the best human beings on the planet. A lot of head coaches are transactional. He is not. They didn’t do anything wrong here.”

Sorsby’s gambling habits surfaced earlier this year and date back to his time at Indiana. He threw for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions at Cincinnati before transferring to Texas Tech in January.

The Red Raiders reportedly made Sorsby the highest-paid transfer player at over $5 million. This came as a reload effort for Tech on the heels of a College Football Playoff run last season.

Sorsby plans to enter the supplemental draft, but the NFL still has to sign off on the move. Roger Goodell will be the one to decide his fate and could reject his bid. We'll see if that happens or not. There's also a possibility a majority of NFL teams pass on him as too much of a risk.
