Notre Dame football was a solid program under Brian Kelly, but when he bolted for LSU, he left a bitter taste in Irish Nation’s mouth.

It’s easy to say right now that Notre Dame would do it all over again, as Marcus Freeman has elevated the expectations, which is now National Championship or bust. Kelly’s tenure in Baton Rouge didn’t last long, three full seasons before getting fired after a 5-3 start and no shot at making the College Football Playoff.

He wasn’t hired during this past cycle, deciding to stay away from the game. On Friday Kelly joined Dusty Dvoracek and Danny Kannell on their College Sports show on SiriusXM to discuss his future plans. “If the right situation comes about and I am ready, I am certainly going to entertain that,” the told them.

Kelly doesn’t seem like he’ll take any job, but after struggling in the SEC, it’d be hard to see him getting a top-level job. It will be very interesting to see what the future actually holds for him. It’d be great to see him on the other sideline against Notre Dame, with a lopsided score in favor of the Irish.
