Bryce Underwood Supports 5-Star WR Dakota Guerrant After Commitment to Oregon

Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood is looking for a breakout season going into 2026. As a true freshman, he threw for 2,428 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also rushed for 392 yards and six touchdowns.

While winning on the field is a top priority, Underwood’s presence has made the Wolverines an intriguing destination for a handful of high school recruits. That includes class of 2027 wide receiver Dakota Guerrant, out of Harper Woods, Michigan.

Guerrant has several connections with the team. His cousin Jacob Oden is a safety for the Wolverines, and Rivals’ Adam Gorney reported that Guerrant and Underwood are close.

Michigan has worked hard to pursue the pass catcher, already having 19 unofficial visits. However, head coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff came up short. On Tuesday, Guerrant announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks.

Despite his decision, it’s clear that Underwood doesn’t have any hard feelings. After the announcement, the quarterback reposted the news on his Instagram story to show some support.

“So Proud Of You!” Underwood wrote. “Congrats Baby Bro.”

It’s still an unfortunate loss for the Wolverines. At 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, Guerrant is a five-star recruit, the No. 4 wide receiver, the No. 1 player in Michigan and the No. 23 player in the nation, according to 247Sports.

He is also coming off an impressive junior season at Harper Woods High School. Guerrant earned first-team honors as a MaxPreps Junior All-American, accumulating 1,950 all-purpose yards and 27 touchdowns.

With two more seasons until he is eligible for the NFL, Underwood and Guerrant would have teamed up for at least one year in Michigan. Instead, the highly rated wide receiver will be elsewhere in the Big Ten.
