BYU suffered some injuries and was missing a handful of players in Saturday’s win over Utah Tech, but received some positive news on the injury front Monday. Starting safety Raider Damuni suffered what looked like may have been a serious knee injury Saturday, but the senior has seemingly avoided the worst. Raider posted on Instagram that he would miss “a lot” of the season, and Defensive Coordinator Kelly Poppinga gave a more detailed timeline. Poppinga said Damuni will be out for a weeks and could be back “maybe for the Notre Dame game.”
This is good news considering that Damuni could have been lost for the season. Raider played in 12 games last season, posting 43 tackles and 1 interception. BYU released a new depth chart Monday and has third-year safety Tommy Prassas is starting in his place.
Other Injury Updates
- Starting linebacker Isaiah Glasker was a game time decision going into Utah Tech but was held out. Kalani said that Isaiah is “good to go” for Saturday’s game versus Arizona.
- Reserve running back Sione Moa left Saturday’s game with an injury. Aaron Roderick said the injury “is not super serious” but that his timeline to return is unknown.
- Kalani said that sophomore DE Nusi Taumopeau will be “ready to roll” for Saturday. Nusi was banged up in fall camp and played sparingly Saturday. Nusi was a big part of BYU’s 2025 class and showed big flashes of his talent at the end of last season. He’s expected to be one of BYU’s top pass rushers.
