The BYU football team has a big test on Saturday against Notre Dame. BYU’s head coach Kalani Sitake is sending a message to the college football world, ahead of that game.
“I think it’s been a long time coming. These fans are ready for it…..I think we are going to shock the nation with some sober noise tonight,” Sitake said, per ESPN’s College GameDay.

BYU and Notre Dame enter the game both ranked in the top 10 of college football polls. The teams are also undefeated. The winner of this game will clearly make a big statement to the College Football Playoff committee, that they belong in this year’s field.
BYU is ready to battle Notre Dame
Sitake has turned BYU into a national power. His Cougars team is now playing in the Big 12 conference. This season, the Cougars are 5-0 heading into Saturday.
“What do we have to lose, man? This is the matchup we wanted from the very beginning,” Sitake said, per KSL. “I don’t know what the outcome’s going to be, but I know one thing, I want both sides to feel it when the game’s done,” he said. “I think if we play at our best and we play as physical as we can, then we’ll be okay with whatever the scoreboard says.”
Sitake is an admirer of this Notre Dame team. The Fighting Irish are once again one of the top teams in the country, under head coach Marcus Freeman.
“The running backs are really talented, but that big offensive line and with their tight ends and even their receivers, they block, they create big plays,” Sitake said. “When you load the box and try to take away the run game, Carr does a great job of distributing the ball and he has great receivers out in the space.”
BYU and Notre Dame play in Provo on Saturday night at 7:30 ET. Notre Dame is 6-0 this year.
