The college football season is just weeks away from kicking off. One of the most anticipated games this season, which also has a ton of national attractions, will be BYU hosting Notre Dame.
Both teams are expected to be ranked high before the contest, and this could have a lot of bearing on the College Football Playoff race this year. While BYU won't take a hit in conference play, every game is a must-win for the Irish, who refuse to give up their independence.
This will be the first match-up between BYU and Notre Dame since 2022. They don't face each other regularly, and this game in particular was a replacement after USC dropped out of the rivalry agreement. The Cougars would boost their playoff resume with a decisive win over the Irish.
It's shaping up to be one of the most demand-heavy games to see in person as well. Tickets on BYU's website are sold out. It is the same case for Notre Dame. The only way anyone can get ahold of tickets at this point is on the secondary market. But the sticker shock might have people a bit surprised.
Single tickets for BYU-Notre Dame in Provo on Saturday, Oct. 17, go anywhere from $672 to upwards of $15,044, as of Saturday (8/15) on Stubhub's website. Two months before the game, and tickets soared to Super Bowl levels.
Just to put this all into perspective, it's cheaper to watch Lane Kiffin's return to Oxford one month from now at $597. LSU plays Ole Miss on Saturday, Sept. 19 with all eyes watching. The top-end price is significantly less as well at $4,223, according to Stubhub.
What's truly shocking is looking at the current tickets for Super Bowl 61 and comparing them to BYU-Notre Dame. The NFL season hasn't started and there are 31 ticket listings for the big game scheduled on Valentine's Day next year.

Out of those listings, 45 percent of the BYU-Notre Dame tickets are priced higher than the cheapest Super Bowl ticket at $6,300, according to Stubhub. A total of 28 listings with tickets over the price to watch one of the biggest events in the world.
No doubt this is going to be a big test for both teams. BYU has narrowly missed the Playoff each of the past two seasons. While Notre Dame was last year's biggest snub in the postseason after winning ten straight games. They also turned down an invitation from the Pop-Tarts Bowl to play BYU last year, which was eventually given to Georgia Tech.
This game deserves the attention of every college football pregame show. We'll see if any of them show up in Provo.
