CLEMSON — Clemson football quarterback Cade Klubnik did not throw passes during the media-viewing period of the Tigers’ bowl practice on Dec. 15.

Klubnik participated in practice and followed drills, doing throwing motions without the ball and mental reps during periods.

Tigers wide receiver Tyler Brown was asked if Klubnik threw passes after the media left, and he said the Clemson quarterback did not as he is dealing with a thumb injury.

“Making sure he’s ready on game day,” Brown said. “He’s just resting it all up. He’ll be ready when the time comes.”

Clemson (7-5) faces Penn States (6-6) in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27 (noon ET, ABC) at Yankee Stadium in New York.

Klubnik’s 2025 season was filled with injuries. He suffered an ankle sprain in Clemson’s win against Boston College in Week 7. This caused him to miss his first career game because of injury against SMU in Week 8.

He also suffered a quad contusion against Duke in Week 10, but it didn’t keep him out of games. Klubnik plans to play in the Pinstripe Bowl after not opting out despite being eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Klunbik completed a career-high 66.6% of his passes for 2,750 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. He also rushed for four touchdowns and 107 yards on 74 attempts. He helped Clemson win its final four games to be bowl eligible for the 21st year in a row.

If he were to miss the Pinstripe Bowl, third-year backup Christopher Vizzina would likely replace him followed by freshman Chris Denson and Trent Pearman.
