California Golden Bears linebacker Luke Ferrelli has committed to transfer to the Ole Miss Rebels, On3 has learned. He was previously a Clemson Tigers signee.

The On3 College Football Top Transfer Portal Player rankings list Ferrelli as the 443rd-ranked player nationally. He’s also the 39th-ranked linebacker. It was on January 6th when he initially committed to transfer to Clemson.

Ferrelli played his high school football at Carlsbad in California. There, he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024. He had been the 1,413th-ranked player overall and the 134th-ranked linebacker in that recruiting cycle. He originally chose to go to Cal ahead of San Diego State, UNLV, and Arizona, among others.

In 2024, as a true freshman, Ferrelli didn’t see any action. That allowed him to utilize his redshirt. He will now have three years of eligibility at Ole Miss.

As a redshirt freshman in 2025, Ferrelli had his breakout season at Cal. He played in 13 games, starting every game for Cal. Along the way, he became an honorable mention All-ACC selection. That’s in a season where he finished with 91 total tackles, 5.0 tackles for a loss, and 1.0 sacks. He also had an interception and a pass defended for the year.

Cal ultimately went 7-6 in 2025. Head coach Justin Wilcox, however, was fired late in the season. He’s since been replaced by Tosh Lupoi, the former Oregon defensive coordinator.

Now, Ferrelli is set to join Ole Miss. The Rebels are coming off a run to the College Football Playoff semifinal. Ole Miss eventually fell to Miami, suffering just its second loss of the season. That came amid a coaching change in Oxford, with former defensive coordinator Pete Golding taking over as the team’s next head coach.

The Transfer Portal closed on January 16th. Ole Miss saw 21 players exit this cycle. That included two linebackers. Jaden Yates and TJ Dottery were the two who entered the portal previously. Notably, Dottery led Ole Miss in tackles a season ago.

As a team, Ole Miss finished the 2025 season 48th in total defense, giving up 348 yards per game. That mark was good for ninth in the SEC. The Rebels were also 37th in scoring defense, giving up 21.1 points per game. That was also ninth in the SEC.
