If the college football writing staff at The Athletic knows what it is talking about, the Big Ten is about to win its fourth national title in a row.
The top vote-getter in a recent survey lists Oregon first with nine votes,
There were other Big Ten teams among those receiving votes: Indiana an Ohio State were both picked by three.
Notre Dame was second to Oregon with five votes, followed by Texas with four, Indiana and Ohio State. Georgia, Miami, LSU and Texas Tech gained one vote each.
The survey didn't end with the national champion. Voters were asked who will win the Heisman Trophy and a Big Ten player led the way: Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith with 11 votes.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning with four, Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr with three, Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, Mississippi quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Southern Cal quarterback Jayden Majaiva with two each.
The Athletic does an outstanding job covering college football year round. The survey is the latest example.
Thankfully, the site points out when it is right and when it is wrong.
