Mar. 21—***

In the next two weeks-ish, I will be ranking each Big Ten team's best nonconference game.

Quick recap: No, 1 Ohio State at Texas, Sept. 12.

2. Michigan vs. Oklahoma, Sept. 12

3. Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame, Sept 6

4. Michigan State at Notre Dame, Sept. 19.

5. Purdue vs. Notre Dame, Sept. 26.

6. Oregon vs. Boise State, Sept. 5.

Had the Blue Devils been able to hold onto their starting quarterback, this game would be a much bigger challenge for Bret Bielema's team.

But Darian Mensah, who threw for 334 yards against Illinois last September in Durham, chose to enter the transfer portal. And sign for big bucks with Miami.

There was the threat of a legal fight for a second, but ultimately Mensah was allowed to join the Hurricanes.

Mensah put up god numbers against Illinois and the rest of the schedule, but Illinois won convincingly at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Illinois brought in Katin Houser from East Carolina, which is just 107 miles from the Durham, N.C. campus.

Duke appears to be counting on Walker Eget as its starter. He threw for more than 3,000 yards in 2025 for San Jose State.

Duke plays a loaded ACC schedule with games against Georgia Tech, Virginia, Miami and Clemson.
