Nov. 11—***

In a month, the Illinois football team will find out its bowl destination. Fans wanting to get a jump on travel plans might be smart to wait to book a flight unless the airline has generous policies about making changes.

At the moment, it seems that Illinois bowl options are varied. Just depends on who you listen to.

's Mark Schlabach projects Illinois into the Dec. 27 Pinstripe Bowl. Who would be the opponent at Yankee Stadium? Louisville, which is led by former Illinois assistant coach Jeff Brohm.

But maybe Schlabach is wrong and his colleague Kyle Bonagura has it right with Illinois facing Texas in the Dec. 31 ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa. Fla. With snow on the ground in C-U on Monday, nobody in the program would argue about a trip to the Sunshine State.

College Football News agrees with Illinois in the ReliaQuest, but picks a different opponent: Vanderbilt. So does Sports Illustrated, which forecasts Tennessee as the Illinois opponent.

CBS Sports likes an Illinois-Tennessee matchup but at a different venue: the Music City Bowl.

It sure is fun to imagine the possibilities. What's most important to Illinois is that it is making a second bowl in a row for the first time in 15 years.
