The fall season officially came to a close with the playing of Thanksgiving football games, so it's time to take a look back and highlight Gardner-area athletes who shined for their teams.
From game-winning touchdowns to history-making plays, Gardner-area football athletes had plenty of highlight moments to be proud of at the end of the season. Some of these players shined brighter and stood out amongst the rest.
Here are the nominees for The Gardner News Football Player of the Year. Readers can vote in the poll and results will be combined with staff votes to determine the winner. The poll will remain open for a week.

Owura Ankoma-Mensah, Quabbin
Ankoma-Mensah contributed in many ways to the Panthers this season. He rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown, had 38 tackles and a sack and added two punt-return touchdowns and one kickoff return touchdown.
Jordan Baumann, Narragansett
Baumann had 13 carries for 162 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns and well as 29 receptions for 595 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. He added 41 tackles, three interceptions, 16 extra points and one 2-point conversion. Baumann also contributes as the kicker, handling extra points, kickoffs and punts and is a member of the Warriors' defense.
Landon Bosselait, Gardner
Bosselait was a strong two-way player for the Wildcats, contributing as one of the go-to target on offense, a safety on defense and the kicker. As a sophomore, his experience this season will help lead the program in future years.
Kayleb Fayard, Monty Tech
Fayard was a senior leader for the Bulldogs. He totaled 231 yards on 23 rushes for two touchdowns in a rebuilding season for Monty Tech.
Austin Holmes, Quabbin
Holmes was a key lineman for Quabbin this season. He tallied 84 tackles, nine tackles for losss and two fumble recoveries, one which he returned or a touchdown. He led as a team captain and starter.
Dom Jamison, Gardner
Jamison played his first season as starting quarterback as a sophomore this fall. In his first year in the role, he broke Gardner's all-time passing record with 1,639 total yards this season, a record set by last year's regular-season undefeated squad.
Andre Martins, Gardner
Martins was a big proponent for Gardner's offense. Though he was out for much of the season with an injury, he scored in every game he did play in and helped to set the tone on defense.
Liam Murphy, Murdock
Murphy led as a sophomore quarterback for Murdock in a turnaround season for the program. He had 1,200 passing yards with eight passing touchdowns and 150 rushing yards with four rushing touchdowns.
Jack Norris, Oakmont
Norris came into the running back position halfway through the season and had 56 rushes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. The senior also had 175 receiving yards on 19 catches. Norris was the backbone of the Spartans' defense, tallying over 75 tackles and recording a pick-six in Oakmont's game against Gardner.
Corey Peterson, Murdock
Peterson ended the season with 500 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His role on the team was important throughout the season. Some highlights include catching a 90-yard touchdown pass to secure Murdock's very first win since 2022 and recovering a fumble against Ayer-Shirley and returning it for a score.
Isaiah Pimentel, Murdock
Just a freshman, Pimentel was an important part of both offense and defense for the Blue Devils. He had 45 tackles as an outside linebacker and safety. Offensively, he rushed for 375 yards and scored two touchdowns – the winning scores in victories against both Ayer-Shirley and Abby Kelley.
Evan Quigley, Oakmont
Quigley was Oakmont's leading receiver with 55 receptions for 900 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also contributed as the kick returner and defensive back, showing his versatility as a player.
Brandon Rene, Narragansett
Rene switched from defense back to defensive end this season and was found success in the new position. He had 73 tackles and 5.5 sacks and offensively as a tight end, he had 5 catches, 39 yards and two 2-point conversion receptions. Rene was named a Mid-Wach E all-star as well as the Central Mass. D8 All-Star Team Defensive MVP.
Gabe Rodriguez, Murdock
The junior totaled 460 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards and 120 yards on special teams and scored seven touchdowns. On defense, he tallied 18 tackles and proved himself to be a crucial part of the Blue Devils' game.
David Roy, Oakmont
Roy served as a three-year starting quarterback for the Spartans. The senior had 136 completions for 1,912 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also tallied 75 rushes for 488 yards and four touchdowns. He secured nine 2-point conversions and broke the school record for passing yards in a game with 398.
Wes Sanderson, Quabbin
As a senior, Sanderson was a team captain and three-year starter on defense. He totaled 103 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, one sack and one interception that he returned for a touchdown. Offensively, he had 342 rushing yards for two touchdowns, 16 receiving yards, 38 passing yards and a 45-yard punt average.
Tezarian Tigs, Narragansett
Tigs totaled 102 carries for 609 rushing yards and seven touchdowns and nine receptions for 212 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns. He had two 2-point conversions, 40 tackles and three interceptions to cement himself as a versatile and go-to player for the Warriors.
