CFP bracket: 12-team field after second College Football Playoff rankings reveal

The second College Football Playoff rankings were revealed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, giving an update from the initial rankings released last week after one week of games.

As expected, Big Ten teams Ohio State and Indiana took the top two spots in the second rankings, while SEC powers Texas A&M and Alabama also earned first-round byes by earning top four seeds (if the season ended on Nov. 11).

The Hoosiers had a close call but pulled off a last-second win over Penn State, but held onto the No. 2 spot over the Aggies.

Unlike the 2024 CFP, the format is different in 2025. The committee no longer awards the top four highest-ranked conference champions the top four seeds. So, Texas Tech (Big 12) and Miami (ACC) are not awarded byes, but still do get into the 12-team field.

The straight-seeding system will go into effect for the 12-team field when the CFP selection committee announces the final field on Sunday, Dec. 7.

Though South Florida was ranked No. 24 in the second top 25 reveal, the Bulls would be the No. 12 seed of the CFP bracket.

  • No. 9 Notre Dame at No. 8 Oregon
  • No. 11 Miami at No. 6 Texas Tech

Quarterfinals

  • No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 5 Georgia/No. 12 South Florida
  • No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 8 Oregon/No. 9 Notre Dame
  • No. 3 Texas A&M vs. No. 6 Texas Tech/No. 11 Miami
  • No. 2 Indiana vs. No. 7 Ole Miss/No. 10 Texas
