After all of the drama, 5-star 2026 receiver Chris Henry Jr. is sticking with Ohio State.

National signing day, or the early signing period as it is now, always seems to do its best Uncle Eddie from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and bring a lot of drama to our television sets and streaming devices. Last year, for Ohio State, it was the Jeremiah Smith signing that had us all glued to social media, refreshing every minute or so to see what was going on.

This year, it’s the recruitment of Chris Henry Jr. that has us on edge, and that’s because, though he has been committed to the Buckeyes for what seems like forever, the departure of Brian Hartline to USF has thrown a wrench into all of that. Hartline was, after all, the guy who recruited him and who has developed so many first-rounders in Columbus.

Reports pointed to USC, Texas, and Oregon making a late push and trying to pounce on the decision, but all of Buckeye Nation can rejoice now. He’s still in the fold after announcing it on the Pat McAfee show Friday.

Ryan Day deserves a ton of credit on this one. That Ohio State head coach has done a ton of winning over the last calendar year.
