Under the lights at Nippert Stadium, the Cincinnati Bearcats entertain a program where they lead the overall series 4-3, but haven't won since 1966.

Kansas State beat UC handily in Manhattan in 2024, 41-15, with Avery Johnson at quarterback. Now a senior, the elusive Johnson makes his first visit to Cincinnati, where it's UC's second "Nipp at Night" of the season. Since 2006, UC has won 40-of-56 such games.

Kansas State's last visit was well before 2006. In 1995, it was heartbreak for UC and Rick Minter as the Bearcats missed an upset of the then-No. 22 Wildcats on a last-second touchdown pass.

League play is important for every school, but particularly for the Bearcats, as after this one, they have eight games, with four of those schools among the Top 25. Five of the next eight will be on the road, starting with the Oct. 3 11 p.m. (Eastern) kickoff at Arizona.

Kansas State also has five remaining road games in their next eight, but only one (so far) will be against a ranked team as they host Houston Oct. 10.
