MORGANTOWN, WV – Compared to their last game, the Cincinnati Bearcats will play in temperatures about 30 degrees cooler than their Arizona night contest on Oct. 3. Saturday's high at Milan Puskar Stadium might not reach 50 degrees until later in the game.
The Bearcats lost by 27 in the Arizona heat two weeks ago, while West Virginia gave up 52 points and lost by 21 to the Wildcats just last week at home. The Mountaineers are trying to slam the brakes on a three-game Big 12 skid, while the Bearcats are looking to hit the gas in Morgantown for their first Big 12 road win.
West Virginia holds firm command of the series at 18-3-1 and the Bearcats haven't won in Morgantown since 2008 when Tony Pike hit Kazeem Alli for the game-winning overtime touchdown pass.
Like the reincarnation of Pat White and Steve Slaton, West Virginia has quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. and running back Cam Cook, who have more rushing yards than any other FBS duo (1,465). UC's top rushers, Gi'Bran Payne and Cole Tabb, were held to 46 yards vs. Arizona, after rambling for a combined 250 in the Kansas State win Sept. 26.
Hawkins Jr. has thrown seven touchdowns, four to deep-threat DJ Epps, with one interception. UC quarterback JC French IV has six scoring passes and no interceptions, but may have to throw downfield in this one. The latest updates will follow, with the most recent action at the top.

UC is No. 12 nationally in rushing offense at 230.8 yards per game and No. 10 with 17 rushing touchdowns.
Tengesdahl and center Taran Tyo also made the Watch List for the Pony Express Award created for the most effective tandem in college football, regardless of position. The award was created by SMU legends and former NFL backs Eric Dickerson and Craig James. Tyo was also added to the Rimington Trophy Midseason watch list by the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
